Summary
- The healthcare system often gets in the way of Autistic people, and their clinicians, getting their needs met.
- Most Autistic people have a hard time accessing medical care. This leads to high rates of untreated health problems.
- Doctors and other healthcare professionals do not get a lot of training in the problems that most Autistic people have.
- The Autistic community members interviewed in this Brain Club® share experiences of feeling dismissed, not listened to, not believed, and traumatized by the healthcare system.
